ISLAND’S NO. 1: BINI BLOOMS AS PH’S TOP ARTIST IN HERSTORIC 2024
It took a long while but like a seed naturally growing into a full-blown flower, BINI blossomed in a year to remember etched by unrivaled success, unbridled growth and unparalleled ascend to superstardom.
The Nation’s Girl Group, buoyed by crests and troughs of their wavy struggle and fueled by the scorching heat of adversity through the years prior, at last reached a flowering state and bloomed as the country’s top artist in 2024.
Some may call it a BINI storm. For others, it’s a crazy fever. But what the octet did was a BINI phenomenon – what BINI ignited was a music revolution.
Name it: from awards and milestones here and abroad to album physical sales and digital streams across all platforms, endorsement deals, magazine covers, social media following and engagements, mall shows, TV and radio guestings; and outstanding concerts, the eight-member group turned the Philippines into its own Biniverse. And everyone was left in awe like watching the the full moon and the stars around it in the night sky.
The GrandBINIverse, a three-day jampacked shows at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum considered as one of the best OPM concerts in history, was a perfect example of BINI’s ascend.
The Nation’s Girl Group did it with summer craze ‘Pantropiko’ followed by a mania in ‘Salamin, Salamin’ that snowballed to year-long chokehold of Blooms and the masses, who all scaled their entire discography all the way from previous albums in Born To Win and Feel Good to Talaarawan.
In the end, BINI was adjudged as island’s No. 1 on all music platforms – whether it’s as an artist or with their booming tracks that defined the Philippine music in 2024.
Billboard Philippines recognized BINI as the country’s top artist, paving the way for BINI’s inclusion to the Billboard Global No. 1s series – a collection of top-charting artists from each country around the world.
BINI was also crowned as one of the world’s eight Breakout Artists for 2024 by Spotify Global, which also named BINI as the No. 1 artist in the Spotify Radar Global Class of 2024.
Moreover, BINI was hailed as the Most Popular Dance Performer at the 1st Jupiter Music Awards (Asian TV Awards) in Indonesia and the International Breakthrough Artist on Breaktudo Awards in Brazil.
That’s on top of BINI’s milestone as the first Filipino artist to win Best Asia Act on the MTV Europe Music Awards in England, which might their biggest international recognition as of now.
BINI was also the first Filipino act to ever perform at the KCON Music Festival in the United States.
At home with a bevy of awards, BINI became the most streamed artist – local and foreign – on Youtube Philippines as well as the top group and female artist on Spotify Philippines. BINI was also the best-selling OPM artist on iTunes Philippines, the most searched female artist on Google Philippines and the top artist overall on Wikipedia Philippines.
BINI’s songs also topped the yearend charts with queen Pantropiko being the most streamed OPM song on iTunes and Apple Music. Salamin, Salamin was also hailed as the Best Song on Apple Music, by local or foreign acts. On Spotify, Pantropiko and Salamin, Salamin placed fifth and sixth, respectively.
Cherry on Top, Lagi, Karera, Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi and Na Na Na also made dents across all charts.
Quoting Google Philippines, BINI indeed “redefined P-Pop” in 2024 with over 1 billion accumulated streams and views on Spotify (796M) and YouTube (636M), reaching over 183 countries.
BINI’s Talaarawan album alone had 482M streams, ranking No. 30 on Spotify Global’s most-streamed female albums worldwide. It was also a platinum-certified album by the Philippine Association of the Recording Industry (PARI) while BINI’s second album Feel Good was certified a gold album.
A searing uprising it was for the once unheralded Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna and Sheena – ascending their way to the throne of not just the P-POP genre but the entirety of OPM – all in one Earth’s majestic revolution around the Sun.
While it took a long and winding road for BINI’s bloom to a full-fledged name in the industry, the journey was worth it.
In an archipelago consists of more than 7,000 islands, BINI reached its flowering state. BINI reaped its fruits of labor from a minuscule seed back in its humbling roots.
BINI blossomed on Islang Pantropiko but the mission has just started.
Now in full Bloom, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna and Sheena are ready to branch out to new territories around the world – all for a dream of championing the present and future of Original Pilipino Music – more than just for themselves.
For BINI, it’s P-POP Rise, OPM Rise and Philippines Rise all in one – and there’s no stopping the Nation’s Girl Group anytime soon.
