BINI shatters a bevy of OPM records
The Biniverse was the cherry on top.
But BINi didn’t lack icings on the cake for the entire month of June to continue their magnificent ascend to the top of the Philippine music scene.
As the P-pop Group’s mega hits in Pantropiko and Salamin, Salamin took turns at No. 1 of the local music charts, BINI seized the throne over all other artists.
In a stunning rise, BINI - which debuted at No. 190 back in February - zoomed as the first-ever Filipino artist to reach No. 1 in the Spotify Philippines Top Artists Chart, an echelon global superstar Taylor Swift owned for almost two years.
Before that, only K-pop sensations BTS and Blackpink held the top spots in the Philippines.
And that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
BINI stepped on the gas and entered the world stage, debuting at No. 193 in the Global Spotify Top Artists Chart to become the first Filipino act in history to do so.
BINI reached a peak as high as No. 156.
BINI has also breached the 7-million mark for monthly listeners to be hailed as the first P-pop group reach those after starting 2024 with only 100K.
To date, they have the most number of monthly listeners among all OPM artists and became the most-searched artist on Youtube Philippines for June, even beating the likes of Swift and Beyonce.
Two years ago, BINI members Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna and Sheena were just giving out flyers in Binondo, dancing in front of a small crowd in Luneta and busking with no fanfare in Baguio.
They had to introduce themselves, every chance they got and to every person they met.
“We are BINI po,” all members would say, without hesitation and doubt, with humility and excitement - as if they’re trying to make friends on school’s First Day High.
BINI, literally, started from scratch. Step by step, they labored their way up, through sweats and tears, in struggles and little victories. Now, they’re here.
And they need no introduction anymore.
Malayo-layo pa, pero malayong-malayo na..
