BINI dazzles as 'First Filipino' artist at KCON

Under the bright lights of Los Angeles City, ‘herstory’ beckoned. And in a stage full of stars, a Filipino group rose to the occasion and shone on its own.

P-pop girl group BINI seized their moment with a performance for the books, becoming the first Filipino act at the KCON Los Angeles last July 27 at the Crypto.com Arena in California.

With an immense pressure in one of the world’s biggest K-pop music festivals, BINI embraced the challenge and stamped their mark by wowing the international crowd with their latest single ‘Cherry on Top’ on the heels of charting success in the Philippines and overseas.

And buoyed by a bevy of Blooms who rallied behind, in full bloom were the Nation’s Girl Group by transforming their pre-show act to a main event of their own.

There was never a dull moment, even a silent stretch, of their performance as cheers, chants and screams savored BINI as if they were home.

In way though, they were, as the millions of Filipinos back home and from all over the world proudly cheered with them.

BINI once busked in New York City.

Even in Luneta and Baguio City in the Philippines. – all with little to no audience.

But not this time in the home of Hollywood and the Lakers as BINI proved there was no small stage for those who dream.

From merely giving out flyers in Manila, BINI reached and conquered the biggest stage of their career and they did not disappoint, even with a member down.

Undermanned and all without their leader Jhoanna, BINI showcased professionalism, versatility and adaptability in performing like one true unit.

Sans Jhoanna who was sick and was forced to stay in the Philippines on top of the late arrival of Mikha and Sheena due to flight cancellation, BINI owned the performance like nothing happened.

Colet took charge in the huddle, Mikha took over in the opening spiels, Aiah covered the ender with Maloi, Gwen and Stacey taking turns in carrying Jhoanna’s lines much to the awe of the crowd.

BINI performed only one song. They were given only three minutes but they owned the stage like its theirs from the start. And forever.

Under the bright lights of Los Angeles City, BINI wasn’t the only one who made history. The Philippines, too.
